4 Loves: Passionate Love

There are 4 words in Greek for the word “love” in English. Last week we talked about friendship and this week we are talking about passionate love.

1. The Bible says, “Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, ‘I have acquired a man from the Lord’” (Genesis 4:1). The description of Adam knowing Eve in this verse is referring to a sexual union. Sexual union is an amazing part of intimacy in marriage. To “know” your spouse involves connecting emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. There needs to be a vulnerability and honesty that accompanies passionate love. Express to one another how connected or disconnected you feel towards one another and why?

2. Discuss some things that you can do to become better connected?

3. Passionate love or eros is not entirely about sexual union but rather it includes the broader themes of romantic love and intimate love. Valentine’s Day is coming soon. This Valentine’s season, think of some creative ideas that you can pursue that might be romantic and increase intimacy in your marriage.
